Goodbye sweetheart

A few minutes ago, we found one of our animal companion dead. Joolz, a normally lively and plump rat female, aged approximately 1 1/2 year old, had been sick for a little while, having trouble eating, a very abnormal sign for her. In the last few days we had taken to spoon feeding her baby puree and water, but she barely had the strength to do even that. We had an appointment to the vet for her this afternoon, but she didn't live long enough for that. The probably cause of death is a respiratory infection, unfortunately extremely common in pet rats. She hadn't want to be in her cage, but didn't like being isolated either. In fact, she seemed to have wanted to spend most of her time with us in the last few days. We didn't want to put her back, but we still had to attend to things, so... I found her still warm, she had probably just passed when I found her.



She is very sorely missed.
